MEDICINE JOURNEYS
You are invited to join us for an incredible experience in the Peruvian Amazon. "Sanken Mai" meaning land of the medicine, is a center for healing and continuing the ancient medicine traditions of the Shipibo people. Sanken Mai lies in the heart of the Amazon, outside of the Shipibo community, San Francisco, near the town of Pucallpa, Peru. Led by maestros Efrain and Walter Lopez, you will have the opportunity to cleanse your body, mind and spirit through their plant medicines and shamanic practices. They will create a treatment plan for each person individually depending on what is going on for that person. This could be a treatment for a specific physical illness, an emotional/mental imbalance, general well-being and cleansing, spiritual connection, or simply wanting to experience and learn these ancient ways. On top of the individual medicinal/power plants, there will be 3 group ceremonies per week, in which we will drink medicinal jungle tea and receive healing through the Shipibo songs and shamanic practices of the maestros. Walter and Efrain Lopez form part of the Shibipo tribe from Pucallpa, Peru and the surrounding areas. Walter's Shibipo name is Panshin Nima, meaning "man of light", while Efrain's shipibo name is Neten Kea, meaning "guide of the universe". They were born into a cradle of great teachers and medicine lineage. Their grandparents, great grandparents, and beyond have all been plant doctors. The ancient secrets of the jungle people, and the language of nature and its plants are in their blood. In the Shipibo tradition, they are selected pre-birth to be doctors, and thus trained from a young age. With over 25 years of experience, they have dedicated their lives to heal, cure, and help people. Their work is carried on with love, alongside their wives and beautiful children, who you will also be seeing around Sanken Mai.
